Why it’s on the list

  • The first floating house on the Partwitzer See, open all year
  • Compact two-storey layout for 2 to 3 guests
  • Panorama window in the bedroom and balcony on the upper deck
  • Sunset views and gentle rocking on the waves

The Schwimmendes Haus, or floating house, was built as the reference home for the settlement of floating houses on the Partwitzer See in Saxony. It is the smallest of the two-storey types and works as a self-catering holiday rental that you can book by the night.

Inside

The compact, well-planned layout sleeps two to three people. The ground floor has the hallway, the bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen-living room with a direct exit onto a generous, screened sun deck. Upstairs are the living area with a comfortable seating corner and access to the upper deck balcony, and the bedroom with a panorama window. Bed linen and towels are provided.

On the water

It is described as the first floating house on the Partwitzer See, and it is available all year. The attraction is simple: the sunset view from the terrace and the gentle rocking of the waves. Staying on the water gives a different perspective from a lakeside cabin.

Practical notes

Small dogs are welcome for a flat fee of 15 EUR. Since the house is the smallest type in its settlement, it suits couples or a small family rather than larger groups.

The Partwitzer Hof manages the booking. If you are travelling in the colder months, ask what the house offers for winter use, as the stay is open all year. The sun deck is screened from view, so it works as a private outdoor room, and the self-catering kitchen means you can plan your own meals.
