Privacy policy

This policy explains what information StayAtNiche collects when you use stayatniche.com and what we do with it.

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Who we are

StayAtNiche (“we”, “us”) runs the website stayatniche.com, an independent guide to unusual hotels.

Information we collect

Information you give us. If you subscribe to our newsletter or use the contact form, we receive the details you enter, such as your name and email address.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. If analytics tools are enabled, they may collect similar anonymised usage data.

Stored on your device. Stays you save are kept in your own browser (local storage) and are never sent to us.

How we use it

  • To send the newsletter, only if you subscribed
  • To reply to your messages
  • To keep the website running, secure and useful
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used
  • To meet legal obligations

When you follow a link to a partner such as Expedia, Kiwi.com or Klook, that partner may set cookies and process data under its own privacy policy. A script from our affiliate network (Travelpayouts) may add tracking to partner links so that bookings can be attributed to us. We do not see your booking or payment details. See our affiliate disclosure for the list of partners.

How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time with the link in every email.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the EU and UK GDPR, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. You can also complain to your data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version.
