The Dune Camp

The Dune Camp is a Kalahari lodge run by Bush Ways Botswana, set among red dunes on the north-eastern boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. It lies within the Deception Valley Private Reserve, which spans 43,000 hectares of Kalahari wilderness and is one of the largest private game reserves in Botswana.

The lodge

The lodge has eight rooms. Bush Ways describes its collection as ranging from intimate tented camps to traditional safari lodges, and The Dune Camp sits within that collection as a desert property. The accommodation is the base for what the reserve offers, rather than the whole reason to come.

The landscape

The reserve has designated waterholes, hidden viewing hides, vegetated dunes, natural pans and the valley itself, all of which offer game viewing. Day and night game drives are the main activity, with the chance to see the black-maned Kalahari lion and cheetah, among other species.

Culture

The lodge pairs traditional safaris with cultural immersion. Guests are guided through traditional activities by Naro-speaking San guides, including a guided cultural walk.

The lodge can be reached by air or by road, so you can choose between a transfer and a flight depending on your itinerary.
