Severin Safari Camp

Severin Safari Camp is a tented camp in the middle of Tsavo West National Park in Kenya, in the Kitani Wildlife Area. The camp is open, with no fences, so wildlife can walk through the landscape around the tents, and Kilimanjaro sits on the horizon. The camp is open all year.

The tents

The Luxury Tent covers 34 square metres and sleeps up to three adults. Each has handmade wooden furniture in a traditional African style, a king-size bed with a mosquito net, an en-suite bathroom with running hot and cold water, and a private veranda facing the savanna. The camp also lists suites among its rooms.

At the camp

The main camp has a pool, a gym and a spa, and a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. A raised deck is the place for Kilimanjaro views, and there is a private campfire and a covered veranda. The camp practises what it calls ecological tourism: it uses solar hot water and runs its own waste water plant.

Game drives in Tsavo West are the main activity, and the camp is described as suitable for families, couples and wildlife watchers.

Getting there

Guests can take the Madaraka Express train to Mtito Andei and be collected from there, or fly to nearby airstrips. The camp sits in the Kitani Wildlife Area of the national park.

Ask the camp which transfer suits your route when you book. A stay can be combined with game drives in the park on the same days.
