Hotel Al Castello

Hotel Al Castello is housed in a 17th-century palace in the middle of Bassano del Grappa. This is a town building rather than a fortress, standing close to Bassano’s medieval castle and the Palladian bridge. The hotel calls itself the only hotel in the historic centre.

The building

The hotel describes the atmosphere as that of a former Bassano palace, a historic city building that has been kept up through continuous conservative restoration over the years and adapted for hotel use by the family that runs it. The bar is a meeting point where brandy and typical Venetian wine are served.

The rooms

The hotel has 11 rooms, each named after a figure from a medieval court. Single travellers can take the Merchant Room, a single bed on the second floor suited to short or business stays. Double rooms include the Knight, Noble, Prince, Queen and King rooms, the Guards Room has two separate beds, and the Squires Room is a triple. The Baron’s House is an apartment.

Room features include air conditioning, soundproofing, free Wi-Fi, a wardrobe and heating.

Check-in and house rules

Rooms are available from 2pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 11am on the day of departure. The hotel’s written house rules form part of the booking agreement.

Getting around

With the hotel in the old centre, the medieval castle and the Palladian bridge are close by.
