Castello di Guarene

Castello di Guarene is a Baroque castle hotel in the hills of Piedmont’s Roero, a landscape recognised by UNESCO. The hotel describes the atmosphere as the sobriety and elegance of Piedmontese Baroque, with contemporary hospitality.

History

In 1726 Count Carlo Giacinto Roero of Guarene laid the first stone, transforming an old medieval fort into the summer residence of his family. A pupil of Filippo Juvarra, he drew up the project himself, and the result became one of the brightest examples of Piedmontese Baroque. His sons finished the castle in 1773, and a visit from Vittorio Amedeo III and the queen confirmed its prestige.

Inside, fireplaces, crystal chandeliers and frescoed 18th-century walls are part of the stay. The Italian gardens, designed by the count in 1740, belong to the same story.

The rooms

The castle has twelve prestigious spaces, all restored. The rooms combine period furnishings and modern comfort, and each has a different character.

• Castle Deluxe Room, 55 m², for one to three guests, pet friendly. These rooms are next to the oldest spaces of the castle, with their original dimensions, frescoed walls and velvets.
• Castle Luxury Room, 85 m², for one to four guests, pet friendly, with panoramic views.

Spa and restaurant

The castle has a spa and wellness centre, and a restaurant whose menu looks to the future while set among historic halls.
