Castello di Fagnano Albergo Diffuso & Spa

Castello di Fagnano is an albergo diffuso, a hotel whose rooms are spread through a village instead of stacked in one building. The name comes from the hamlet where it stands: Castello is one of the small clusters that make up the municipality of Fagnano Alto, in Abruzzo, in the province of L’Aquila. Fagnano Alto has 446 inhabitants and lies on a small hill in the Aterno valley, within the Sirente Velino Natural Park.

The houses

The hotel is made up of two buildings, Casa Carluccio and Casa Ercolino, each with its own green space. Between them there are seven double rooms with private bathrooms, 14 beds in all, along with shared areas. Reception is in Casa Carluccio, where check-in takes place; it has a TV and Wi-Fi. The common areas have a coffee machine and a minibar with free water. Rooms in Casa Carluccio include free Wi-Fi and a hairdryer, and some have a terrace.

Pool, spa and tastings

Close to Casa Carluccio there is an outdoor pool with a sunbathing area for guests only. Inside the same house is a small spa, also reserved for guests. Guided wine tastings can be booked, and two e-bikes come with the property for exploring the valley.

The village sits between 532 and 1,475 metres of altitude across the municipal territory, and the hotel promises sweeping views over the valley below, from dawn to sunset.
